Annotation: Mr. Edwin F. Beschler was a student of mathematics at Columbia University, graduating in 1961. His career was not as a mathematician, but as a publisher of mathematical books and journals for Academic Press, Birkhauser Boston, and Springer Verlag. He retired in 1999 and does language editing of mathematics for a number of international publishers.He was particularly active in the 1960s in the founding of a program of significant new research level journals in mathematics, all of which continue to be published today.
